Not only is Philadelphia famous for the key role it played in giving birth to the United
States as a free and separate nation, but the state's cultural heartbeat resounds from
this city. Hence the Avenue of Arts. Patrons of the arts congregate here to enjoy
Philadelphia's creative movements. Another bright spot in this area of the city is the
Ritz-Carlton. Ritz-Carlton hotels are held in high esteem not only in the United States
but throughout the rest of the world. The hotel is praised for its five-star service and
many other hotel groups have tried in vain to live up to the standards that the
Ritz-Carlton has set in the hospitality world. The two restored structures that make up
the Philadelphia Ritz-Carlton were originally built in 1908 and 1931. When a fire swept
through Philadelphia in 1991, several buildings were left vacant in the aftermath. Through
an $88 million dollar restoration project, the hotel designers were able to preserve the
historic features of the buildings. An exquisite staircase was added in the dome building
that was originally the Mellon banking hall. The lobby and the hotel's restaurants are
also located in this building. The Ritz-Carlton's 331 beautifully appointed guest rooms
are located in an adjacent 30 story tower. The hotel is located in the center of
Philadelphia and is just minutes away from popular tourist destinations and business
centers.
Elegant Rooms, Luxurious Amenities
Out of the 331 guest rooms there are 31 suites and 45 Ritz-Carlton Club rooms and suites.
The hotel also has a Penthouse Suite that encompasses the entire 31st floor as well as a
Wedding Suite that is available for honeymooners. All rooms and suites are elegantly
furnished. The amenities are so luxurious that it is no wonder that the Ritz-Carlton is
one of the most revered hotel chains in the entire world. All of the bathrooms feature an
opulent marble tub, terry cloth bath towels, plush bathrobes, European toiletries,
hairdryer, lighted makeup mirror and scale. There is also a Bath and Spa menu. After a day
of sightseeing or business meetings this is a wonderful way to relax.. The beds are
dressed in 100% soft cotton linens as well as goosedown and non-allergenic
foam pillows. Each room has a remote controlled color cable television that has the option
of on-command movies and video games. Business travelers will be pleased to discover that
all of the guest rooms are conducive to working. The large working desks are equipped with
modem access and direct high-speed dataport Internet access. The multi-line phones allow
for access to voice mail . Other in-room amenities include iron, ironing board, wall safe,
AM/FM alarm clock (some with CD players), sewing kit, padded hangers for suits and skirts,
fax access and a fully stocked mini refreshment bar. Non-smoking and handicap accessible
rooms are available upon request.
Ritz-Carlton Club
Those who opt to stay in one of the Ritz-Carlton's Club rooms or suites will have access
to a concierge 24 hours a day. They will also have the luxury of partaking in any of the
Club's five complimentary food and beverage presentations. These light meals and snacks
are served on the 30th floor and include continental breakfast, light lunch, afternoon
tea, cocktails and evening cocktails. There is no better way to unwind after a long day
than to allow yourself to be pampered.
Dining at the Ritz
Guests need not travel far to enjoy the best restaurants that Philadelphia has to offer
because the Ritz-Carlton houses several of the city's most highly acclaimed
restaurants. The Pantheon is located in the rotunda and focuses on Italian cuisine with a
Californian flair. The wine list is exceptional. The Rotunda is located under the dome in
the hotel's lobby. This is a great place to stop and enjoy a light bite, afternoon tea or
a pre dinner cocktail. The Paris Bar and Grill serves everything from fresh seafood to
caviar. They too offer an extensive wine list. The Vault is best enjoyed once the belly is
full. Guests can partake in an after dinner cognac. The homemade truffles and cookies are
out of this world.
location
The Ritz-Carlton is located in the heart of Philadelphia at Ten Avenue of the Arts and is
just steps away from many of the city's highlights.
